Karen joined Alford Group in May 2002 as Executive Assistant to founder Jimmie Alford and has 18 years’ experience supporting executives in the business and nonprofit sectors, including higher education, educational publishing and law. During her time at the firm, Karen is proud to have been nominated for and received three value awards from co-workers: Award for Respect (2005), Award for Integrity (2008) and Award for Excellence (2012). A Chicago area resident since 1986, she received her B.A. in English from Barat College in Lake Forest, IL in 1989, completing the education she began at Carroll College in Helena, MT in the 1970’s.

Making schedules come together, learning about the unique missions of our clients, problem solving on behalf of our staff, and being inspired every day by her terrific colleagues are the parts of her job she finds most satisfying.

Best Friends Animal Sanctuary (Kanab, UT), C.R.O.W. (Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife, Sanibel, FL), and American Jewish World Service are three non-profits that are close to her heart. She is the mother of three 30-somethings and shares her home with two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Barkley and Guinness. Don’t call her on Monday evenings, as she never answers the phone during PBS’s Antiques Roadshow. A weekend in Wisconsin that includes browsing in antique shops rates as her get-away of choice.
