Calling Up the Reserves: Making the Most of Your Auxiliary Board
Nonprofit auxiliary boards of all kinds – advisory, women’s or men’s, regional, associate, honorary, or a “president’s council” – offer enormous benefits to any organization if utilized effectively. The establishment and effective utilization of auxiliary boards can make a great difference in donor and constituent engagement, stakeholder input, and fundraising. This presentation is a lecture and case study style presentation involving the real experience of Alford clients. In this session, we will discuss best practices for engaging different types of auxiliary boards in fundraising and other aspects of the organization.
Attendees will learn how to:
- Approach auxiliary group fundraising strategically
- Ensure alignment with organizational strategic objectives and balance between the efforts of different boards
- Allow for and appreciate cultural difference between boards
- Measure the effectiveness of auxiliary group efforts to ensure increased return on investment and engagement of members over time
