Giving USA Report Details

First published in 1956, Giving USA: The Annual Report on Philanthropy is the longest running, most comprehensive report on philanthropy in the United States. It is researched and written by the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy. The Giving USA 2023 report was released June 20th by The Giving Institute.  Alford Group is a longtime supporter of Giving USA and member of The Giving Institute. Alford Group’s President and CEO Brenda B. Asare is currently serving as the Chair of The Giving Institute.

Sharon Tiknis, Chief Client Experience Officer at Alford Group has been a leader in the nonprofit sector for over 35 years, developing philanthropic programs and assembling volunteer leaders to build capacity and drive results. Prior to Alford Group, she served as CDO and Executive Director of the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation.

Panelists

Liz Thompson, CEO of The Cleveland Avenue Foundation for Education Group (CAFE) is deeply engaged in the nonprofit community and passionate about youth development. The CAFE is focused on college access, career readiness and attainment. Through the Foundation, Liz mentors students and young professionals as they transition through life.

Phillip Lanham, President and CEO of Gulf Coast Community Foundation leads the Gulf Coast Community Foundation, including strategy, programs, operations and investments. Previously, Phillip served as the Chief Philanthropy Officer with Greater Cincinnati Foundation and is a past president of AdNet, a network of community foundation philanthropy professionals.

Donald A. Cooke, Vice President at Alford Group and former SVP, Robert R. McCormick Foundation recently served as Senior Vice President for Philanthropy of the Robert R. McCormick Foundation. His responsibilities included providing strategy and oversight to the grant-making programs in democracy and civics, communities, education, justice reform, veterans and special initiatives.
