Thomas W. Mesaros receives Professional Achievement Award

Thomas W. Mesaros’ Contribution to the Not-for-profit Sector Recognized with the Northwest Development Officers Association Professional Achievement Award

Seattle, WA –

Thomas W. Mesaros, CFRE, Senior Counsel and immediate past President & CEO of Alford Group, has received the 2014 Professional Achievement Award from The Northwest Development Officers Association. The award honors an outstanding member of the nonprofit sector who exemplifies the highest standards of ethics, achievements and commitment, someone who has made invaluable contributions to the philanthropic community in the Pacific Northwest.

Tom has been a part of the nonprofit sector since 1975 when he joined the staff of the Chief Seattle Council, Boy Scouts of America.  He also served as President of the Providence Foundation of Seattle and Vice President of Fund Development for the Sisters of Providence Health System before establishing Alford Group’s Seattle office in 1995.

Tom is a founding member and past president of NDOA who has been counseling nonprofits for more than 30 years. He has held leadership positions on the Boards of the Giving Institute and the Giving USA Foundation, publishers of the widely read annual report on philanthropy across the United States. Tom also served as a National Director for both the Association of Fundraising Professionals and the Association of Fundraising Professionals Foundation, and as President of the Washington State and Western Massachusetts chapters of AFP.

Tom now serves as Senior Counsel with Alford Group, a fundraising and management consulting firm to nonprofits, stepping down from his role as President & CEO in 2014. He has worked as counsel with countless nonprofits, their executives, staff, and boards, to strengthen the development and organizational capacity of those organizations and the nonprofit sector.
